JW12361236B is used to drive a LED string (≤80V),and remove the 100/120Hz current ripple on AC/DC power by a capacitor between VC andGND. If the voltage on LED pin exceeds 5V, the currentripple removing function is disabled, which could help to limit the power dissipation on chip.JW1236B provides short protection, open protection and HOT-PLUG protection.The maximum LED current is internally limited at 2.3A. JW1236B provides over thermal protection. When the OTP is trigged, ripple current will be released

with the temperature.

JW1236B is designed for driving one LED string(≤80V) and removing the 100/120Hz LED current ripple. Theory of OperationThe LED string and JW1236B are both suppliedby an AC/DC current source. The LED pin isconnected to the cathode of LED string. JW1236B transfers the LED current ripple tovoltage ripple on chip, and ensures the constant voltage across LED string and the current flowthrough LED string. The scalable adaptive function of JW1236B canregulate the cathode voltage of LED string to minimum to improve the efficiency of the system. Adaptive Regulation JW1236B controls the output voltage of internalDigital-Analog converter (DAC) by monitoring the operation state of built-in NMOSFET. Theefficiency of system is relatively low when NMOSFET always work in the saturation region. JW1236B detects it and increases the digital inputof the DAC and ILED, then the output voltage of

power supply is reduced, and the voltage drop on

Conversely, when NMOSFET is working in thelinear region, LED current regulation loop is open. JW1236B detects it and decreases the digitalinput of the DAC and ILED, then the output voltage of power supply is raised, and the LED currentregulation loop is close. LED Pin Voltage Limit The voltage ripple on LED pin is very large whenthe current ripple is removed, which would bring large power dissipation on chip. JW1236B limitthe voltage on LED pin as 5V internally. When the voltage on LED pin reaches 5V, the current rippleremoving function is blocked. LED Current Limit The current of LED is limited to 2.3A internally. The current limitation can protect the chip whenLED is short connected or HOT-PLUG. The function of current limit is higher priority thanLED Pin voltage limit. It means that the voltage on LED Pin is limited when LED current exceed2.3A. LED Short Protection When the VD voltage is higher than 17V andVIN-VD<6V, and the state holds for more than 25us, JW1236B considers the LED string isSHORT connected, and shut down the internal MOSFET until VIN-VD>6V.
